We are excited to announce the launch of our third project under Rootcode Foundation, continuing our commitment to providing technology education for underprivileged students in Sri Lanka. As part of this year’s project, we have adopted Koralaima Soyza Vidyalaya, Polgasowita. We officially launched the initiative with an inauguration ceremony held on the 25th of January 2025. The inauguration ceremony took place at the school premises, bringing together students, parents, and teachers in celebration of this milestone.

We started Rootcode Foundation over 2 years ago and the Foundation has been operating with the mission of making technology education more accessible to the future generation of our country. Our first project began with the adoption of Sri Siddhartha Kanishta Vidyalaya in Horana, followed by Mawathgama Kanishta Vidyalaya in our second initiative. Following the success of these previous projects, this expansion aims to expand our impact even more by helping more and more students shape their futures through technology education.
What’s Next?
Each project of Rootcode Foundation is a yearlong commitment. Throughout this year, our team will be visiting Koralaima Soyza Vidyalaya once a month to conduct full-day teaching sessions covering a variety of IT-related topics. These sessions are designed to provide the students with both theoretical knowledge as well as practical, hands-on learning. To help the students grasp relatively complex topics in a simple and practical manner, we make our sessions as engaging and interactive as possible by including fun quizzes and physical demonstrations. For example, we used STEM Learning Kits to carry out visual demonstrations and teach the students about Robotics, IOT and electronics. Apart from teaching, we will also be taking numerous steps to ensure the sustainability of our efforts, such as building a computer lab, conducting teacher training sessions, and providing monthly scholarships to well-performing students.
